Much to our horror, Blake Lively has confirmed that she won’t be attending the Met Gala this year.
Lively has been a regular attendee at the event since 2008 and fans eagerly await the actress’ red carpet appearance each year. In fact, Lively’s ability to perfectly match her outfit to the Met Gala theme often sees the star hailed as the Met Gala queen.
This year, however, will be a little different with Lively confirming to People reporters that she won’t be attending the 2023 Met Gala event.
At the reopening of the Tiffany & Co Fifth Avenue store in New York City, reporters asked Lively whether fans would see her on the red carpet.
“You will not. But I will be watching,” Blake revealed.
After reporters complimented her iconic 2022 Statue Of Liberty inspired Met Gala look, Blake gave us a little more insight into her Met Gala night plans by saying: “Thank you, that’s very sweet. I’ll be wearing that on my couch on Monday.”
Given that Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds welcomed their fourth child in February, we’re guessing the couple are a little busy at the moment and totally get why Lively is opting for the couch this year.
Fortunately, the Met Gala guest list isn’t lacking superstar celebs, with stars including Dua Lipa, Penelope Cruz, Michaela Coel and Kim Kardashian all confirmed to be in attendance.
As for our beloved Lively, there’s always next year.
