Blake Lively’s upcoming movie The Rhythm Section has been shut down, following an unsuccessful surgery on the actress’ hand.

Lively first hurt herself back in December while filming an action sequence on set and the movie was temporarily placed on hold while she recovered and awaited surgery.

But now The Hollywood Reporter says that Lively’s surgery was unsuccessful and she will have to have further treatment, causing producers again to hit pause.

It is reported that it could be five months before filming resumes, with crew being asked to find other work in the meantime.

“[Lively’s] okay. She’s just recovering,” the film’s director Reed Morano previously told THR.

“The problem is that normally, that kind of an injury, you would have four to six weeks of rehab and then you would wear a splint. We have to go into stunts, so it’s very complicated.”

The 30-year-old is the star of the upcoming spy thriller, based on the novels by Stephanie Patrick. Also starring Jude Law, it centres on Lively’s character’s transformation from “woman on a path of self-destruction” to investigative assassin after her family are killed in a suspicious plane crash.
