Disgraced blogger Belle Gibson has failed to show up in court – again.
Gibson was given until Sunday to file a defence in the Consumer Affairs Victoria’s case, against allegations she falsely claimed to heal herself from brain cancer with clean eating.
The Age, reports Legal action was taken against Gibson in May for ‘misleading conduct’ and ‘unlawful fundraising appeals in 2013 and 2014.’
This is the third time Gibson has failed to show. After her no show in June, she was given one last chance to file her defence.
‘These are serious allegations and I want to make sure Ms Gibson knows the consequences of not contributing in this case,’ Justice Mortimer told the court last month, 9 News reports.
Consumer Affairs Victoria confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they were still pursuing the case against Gibson.
“Consumer Affairs Victoria is taking action against Belle Gibson and her company, Inkerman Road Nominees Pty Ltd (in liquidation), in the Federal Court of Australia,” spokesperson said.
“As the matter is continuing to progress in court, no update can be provided at this time.”
If she continues to evade court, Gibson could be subpoenaed or be held in contempt of court.
