Cassie Wood might not have made the final of this season of the Bachelor, but she has been one of the season’s most talked-about contestants, and speaking on The Project last night, the 24-year-old admits she feels like a joke.
The emotional interview comes after the shocking finale which saw Bachelor Nick Cummins walk away without a winner, leaving final two, Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman – and Australia – heartbroken and wanting answers.
Cass joined Brittany and Sophie, as well as Brooke Blurton, who chose to walk out before the final rose ceremony.
Throughout the season, Cass’ backstory has dominated the narrative and the drama on screen, but she says she feels like she has been made to appear a “joke” and to portrayed as a clingy-stalker.
“I feel like a bit of a joke,” Wood says, before breaking down into tears and struggling to speak when asked if it’s been easy to move on.
“Like it hasn’t been … it hasn’t been … sorry.”
While Nick played the relationship down, saying “it was a lot more hyped up than what it was,” Cass’ raw emotion tells a different story.
“It was on-and-off, but when we were together, the moments that we had were special. And I always found him someone special, and that’s why I had such strong feelings.
When Lisa Wilkinson asked her if she was still in love with him, she stumbled on her words.
“He was always someone I thought was amazing and I’ll always have a soft spot for him. Maybe those feelings were still there, even after filming had ended.”
