Who hasn’t once fantasised about living like The Little Mermaid’s Ariel? Yeah, most of us. Now our childhood dreams can finally be realised, with Australia’s very first underwater hotel right at the Great Barrier Reef.
Reefsuites at Hardy Reef *officially* opens this Sunday and trust us when we say, it’s luxe. The insane interiors include two exclusive suites that sit four metres underwater, with just three inches of glass separating hotel guests from their undercover bunkmates. Then, after dark, outside lights illuminate the water to create a mood. Plus, you can really check out thanks to the hotel’s digital detox, with no wifi or signal available on the pontoon.
But, if you’re not after a Little Mermaid fantasy there is an option for guests to glamp under the stars too.
The hotel began construction in 2017, when the pontoon it’s now situated on was being reconstructed after damage from Cyclone Debbie – and sustainability and reef protection has been front of mind throughout the whole process. The project safely and sustainably removed and replanted almost 4000 pieces of coral onto the existing reef wall after the pontoons original mooring structure was damaged. Bravo!
So, set your out of office emails, it’s time for an early Christmas vacation. You know where to find us.
