We’re crossing our fingers and toes for the talented Australians nominated for Academy Awards in 2018, including golden girl Margot Robbie, who made the leap from Ramsay Street to Hollywood in just a few short years.
Robbie is up for Best Actress after receiving critical acclaim for her gritty performance—and skating skills—in I, Tonya. She faces fierce completion from awards season favourite Francis McDormand, plus nominees Sally Hawkins, Saoirse Ronan and Meryl Streep.
The odds are in the favour of Australian Lee Smith, who could take home the award for Best Editing for the World War II epic Dunkirk. As The Guardian reports, Smith is up against fellow Australian Paul Machliss for his work on Baby Diver.
Meanwhile, Australian duo Derin Seale and Josh Lawson are nominated in the category of best live-action short for their comedy The Eleven O’Clock.
Stay tuned for news on all the award winners, Aussie hopefuls and if there’ll be yet another envelope gaffe when the Best Picture is announced.
