Prince William revealed that an interview with him will appear in a gay magazine. This is the first time that a member of the royal family has ever given an interview to a gay publication.
The interview will discuss bullying of young LGBT people, as Prince William has been campaigning against bullying of young people as one of his passionate causes.
The magazine that will be publishing the interview is called Attitude, and has featured cover stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and One Direction member Liam Payne in the past.
The news of Prince William’s interview has been kept under wraps, and the managing director of the magazine, Mike Buckley, has said that there will be more information to come soon.
The Duke of Cambridge has also recently signed a book of condolence for the victims of the Orlando shooting with his wife, Kate Middleton.
He wrote: “With our deepest condolences and with our thoughts and prayers to all those affected.”
A member of the LGBT Foundation has spoken out about the interview to The Telegraph.
“What it shows is why it’s important – because there has not been that many times when the LGBT community has been mentioned or highlighted by the royal family – with it being a younger heir to the throne who is understanding of diverse communities.
“The fact that he has agreed to be in Attitude and signing books of condolences for the Orlando massacre, shows the importance of reaching out to the LGBT community.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how he appears – this will be warmly welcomed.”
