After news broke yesterday of Kim Kardashianโs terrifying attack in Paris her hotel room, the internet was quick to slam the incident, labeling it a โpublicity stuntโ and criticizing her for โbringing it on herselfโ.
There were also a number of other conspiracy theories that quickly gained traction.
The 35-year-old mother-of-two was reportedly bound with packing tape and forced into the bathtub in her luxury apartment by five men who had posed as police officers.
The reality star was thankfully unharmed but obviously shaken by the incident, where more than $14 million worth of jewellery was stolen, with her engagement ring as well as a new ring gifted to her by husband Kanye West โ believed to be amongst it.
While police are still investigating the incident, weโve rounded up the most outrageous, far-fetched and down right ridiculous conspiracy theories doing the rounds:

1. It was staged for publicity
Apparently the incident was staged for publicity and to help boost ratings for her reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Wouldn't surprise me if Kim Kardashian paid someone to rob her as a publicity stunt ๐๐๐๐
โ Matthew Ivory (@MatthewIvory) October 3, 2016
@KimKardashian is doing this for publicity. $11m worth of jewelry is an insane amount just laying around. Sounds like @RyanLochte story. ๐

2. It was an insurance job
Some believe Kim and Kanye set the whole thing up to claim back the money from the stolen jewellery.
The whole Kim Kardashian fiasco just seems like a massive publicity stunt, and an even bigger insurance job to me.

RE: "Kim Kardashian" What IDIOT travels with "$14.7M worth of jewelry"? Smells like an Insurance scam.
โ Beaksley (@U_Quack_Addict) October 3, 2016
3. Taylor Swift orchestrated it as payback
Screw writing a song about their feud, apparently Taylor took things next level by orchestrating the robbery herself.

Does anyone else want to know where Taylor Swift and her crew were when @KimKardashian was robbed???

4. Donald Trump did it to distract the news from him
The US Presidential candidate has done some wacky things during his campaign but weโre not sure about this oneโฆ
Best comment on the #KimKardashian-robbery in #Paris yet: "It was Trump, he needs a distraction away from his tax issues." #Trump
โ Lars Pellinat (@Lars9596) October 3, 2016
Haven't quite talked myself out of the possibility that #Trump sent people to Paris to rob Kim Kardashian in order to distract Americansโฆ.

5. Thereโs a Pink Panther gang and they targeted the reality star
Cue the Pink Panther musicโฆ
Kim Kardashian's $4.5 million dollar wedding ring being stolen reminds me of when Beyonce's "Pink Panther" diamond went missing in the movie
โ Craft Monroe (@CraftMonroe) October 3, 2016
So it's rumored the Pink Panther gang was involved in the Kim Kardashian jewelry heist.
โ David Walker (@DavidWalkerSGHS) October 3, 2016
If Inspector Clouseau is investigating, I'm done.
6. The Illuminati are behind it all
Well if you believe this one you know they are behind everything, obviously.

I doubt @KimKardashian was honestly, truly robbed. Everyone needs to look up what the #media / #illuminati is trying to cover up. ๐๐
โ Jordan ๐คด๐ผ (@JAnthonyCL) October 3, 2016
8. Kimโs phone was the real prize, the jewellery was just a bonus
Others believe that Kimโs phone was the real target, with the contents of the phone being more valuable than all of her bling combined, with the perpetrators reportedly planning to use the phone to blackmail the star.
