Katie Holmes has spent a good part of the last six years or so being a single mum, with Tom Cruise seemingly having no interest in being a part of his daughter Suri Cruise’s life. Raising Suri on her own has meant Katie has an extra strong bond with her daughter, although Katie admits she doesn’t do it alone.
Talking to Stellar Magazine, Katie said, “I have a really close relationship with my mum and a close relationship with my daughter”.
“I have taken advice from my mum in raising my daughter. I appreciate the bond that all of us have, and I appreciate more and more my own mother and the challenges she faced now that I’m a mum.”
Just like any regular mum, Katie has to keep an eye on how much time Suri spends on social media. “Every parent is challenged by social media and the Internet,” Katie admitted. “I think, for me, it’s just limiting the amount of time for myself and for my child. It’s important to get out and live and not always be on your phone.”
When it comes to the type of activities Katie and Suri do together, they put us all to shame.
Katie and 13-year-old Suri recently visited Greece to volunteer at a Syrian refugee camp. “I enjoy volunteering with my daughter and hearing her point of view and listening to her suggestions on how we can help,” she told Stellar Magazine.
Supporting charities is something the mother-daughter duo have been doing for years. Back in 2015, Katie said on the Today show, “My little one is very, very generous and very sensitive. So she’s always [saying], ‘Mum, let’s give my old toys to people who need it.’”
