In celebration of the iconic designerโs legacy, a global community came together to recreate and reinterpret his most iconic design via โA Tribute to Karl: The White Shirt Projectโ.
Partnering exclusively with Farfetch, a collection of seven shirts designed each by Carine Roitfeld, Cara Delevingne, Tommy Hilfiger, Sรฉbastien Jondeau, Diane Kruger, Kate Moss and Takashi Murakam will each be replicated 77 times and sold for โฌ777 ($1258) each. The proceeds will be donated to the Sauver la Vie charity initiative for medical research at the Paris Descartes University.
Seven was the designerโs lucky number, the number of his favourite arrondissement in Paris, France and the address of his bookshop on the Rule de Lille.
Delevingneโs design features prints of several of her tattoos including an etching of a lion (which is inked on her finger) and of an elephant (tattooed on her arm). While Mossโ includes a poem.

Speaking about his love of the simple white shirt, Lagerfeld once stated: โIf you ask me what Iโd most like to have invented in fashion, Iโd say the white shirt. For me, the white shirt is the basis of everything. Everything else comes after.โ
โWe are honoured to partner exclusively with the Maison KARL LAGERFELD for what is such an amazing tribute,โ said Holli Rogers, Chief Brand Officer of Farfetch. โThe huge level of support that has been pledged by some of the worldโs most exciting tastemakers is testament to Karlโs legacy and the impact he made globally. We are excited to give Farfetch customers the opportunity to own these limited-edition pieces, that will forever be a wonderful tribute to Karl, whilst simultaneously giving back to the โSauver la Vieโ charity, a worthy cause so close to Karlโs heart.โ
The shirts will be available on September 26th, 2019 for purchase exclusively on Karl.com and Farfetch.com.
