If you’ve recently watched Pretty Woman, My Best Friend’s Wedding or Notting Hill and thought ‘My God, Julia Roberts looks exactly the same!’, you’re not alone.
The 54-year-old actress has an amazing complexion that defies the odds, and has aged so gracefully that we’d have no problem in following her exact skincare routine from this day forward.
And if you’re wondering if she’s perhaps had a little ‘help’, we’re afraid she actually is just blessed.
Julia told You magazine in 2014, “By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift.” The star has said she wants to be ‘an ageing model’ and for her kids to know when she’s ‘pissed, happy and confounded’.
Roberts does, however, believe in taking good care of her skin. Here’s how…
She never goes to bed with makeup on
If there was ever a cause to convince you of complete makeup removal every night, Roberts’ face is it. The Lancôme ambassador would never go to bed wearing foundation (no matter how many glasses of champagne deep). In fact, her first-ever purchase from the brand was the Bi-Facial Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ($61, mecca.com.au)
She layers her skincare
There’s not just one serum or moisturiser Roberts swears by, she’s all about piling on the hydration, especially as a frequent flyer. She’s cited Lancôme Absolue L’Extrait as a favourite before, telling Allure, “It makes my skin feel so hydrated and has a lovely fresh smell.”
But it seems anything with a high moisture-factor is a go when travelling, “Before I get on an airplane, I pile up on the skincare products,” she told Hollywood Life. “You couldn’t hug me because I would just slip right away from you.”
She nourishes from within
Diet plays a big part in how our skin looks, and as far as food goes, Roberts likes to keep thing wholesome.
“We definitely try to eat mindfully,” she told the Toronto Sun. “As I always say to my kids, ‘You have to eat the good stuff to get the good stuff.'”
But it’s not all just lean greens and salmon, Roberts told People she loves her morning coffee as much as the next person and the carb-free life is definitely not for her.
She wears SPF every day
When it comes to celebrities with great skin, this is the golden rule they all seem to abide by.
“As a responsible parent with three kids who love to be outdoors I rely totally on a good sunblock,” Roberts told People.
She works out four times a week
Make no mistake, exercise can definitely enhance your glow. Roberts enjoys yoga for a daily dose of wellness, and also loves swimming, pilates and plyometrics (aka jump training).
“Accomplishment, clarity, energy, strength, joy… these are all things I give myself through working out, and I can feel it in everything I do,” she told The Independent.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean she enjoys every second…
“After 90 minutes [of plyometrics], I’m lying in savasana like, ‘Phew! I’m so glad that’s behind me!'”
So if you’re not fussed about sweating for abs, maybe try sweating for the sake of your skin. It seems to work for Roberts.
