In case you missed it, Julia Roberts and George Clooney are in town to shoot their upcoming film.

They join the legions of Hollywood A-listers including Matt Damon and Zac Efron who have called our country home, residing in million dollar mansions while enjoying the best beaches, surf and cafes our Eastern coast has to offer.

This year alone, we saw the likes of Natalie Portman, Isla Fisher, Idris Elba, Rita Ora, Chris Pratt and Melissa McCarthy (to name a few), occupy the upper echelon suburbs of Sydney, enrol their children in schools and become part of our local communities.

Australia has been wooing Hollywood to film in our country for years, but our success in keeping the COVID-19 (relatively) at bay when compared to the US made us an even more attractive option.

Now, arguably two of the biggest actors of all time have landed and we couldn’t be more excited.

Why Are Julia Roberts And George Clooney In Australia?

Julia Roberts and George Clooney are reuniting to film the upcoming romantic comedy Ticket To Paradise.

According to official reports, the film centres around “a divorced couple that teams up and travels to Bali to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they think they made 25 years ago, getting married”.

Rather than filming on the Indonesian island itself, filmmakers have chosen the pristine Whitsundays in Queensland’s central coast. Considering the lush location, countless exclusive resorts and crystal clear waters, we’re confident this movie will give us a serious case of wanderlust.

Since completing their mandatory 14-days quarantine in a luxury estate in one of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs, Vaucluse, Clooney and Roberts have jetted to the Sunshine state to start on production.

Roberts and Clooney have previously starred together in the Oceans Eleven franchise and Money Monster, so if these films are anything to go by, we know their onscreen chemistry will be next level.

Where Are Julia Roberts and George Clooney Staying In Australia?

According to reports, Roberts and Clooney are basing themselves on Hamilton Island.

Considering the amount of luxury hotels at their disposal, including the famed Qualia Resort, we have no doubts the A-listers will be making themselves comfortable for the duration of their stay.

The film is reportedly also being shot in various locations across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, so we’re sure to see the stars pop up there in the coming months. We’re booking our flights as we speak.

How Long Are Julia Roberts and George Clooney In Australia For?

While filming for Ticket To Paradise has only just started, we’re expecting to see the stars remain in Australia for the duration of production, which is rumoured to be a two month stint.

Given the timings, we’re sure that Clooney and Roberts will be spending the holidays in the country before most likely heading home.

Who Is Starring In Ticket To Paradise?

While not much of the film’s plot has been revealed, we do know that newcomer Kaitlyn Dever (who you may know from Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart and Netflix’s Unbelievable) will star as ‘Lily’, Clooney and Robert’s daughter in the film.

Hollywood royalty Billie Lourd joins the cast as ‘Wren Butler’, Lily’s best friend who joins her on the trip. Lourd is the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds. She also starred in Booksmart across from Dever and followed in her mother’s footsteps starring alongside her in the most recent Star Wars.
