MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo was laid to rest at a private Sydney funeral on Saturday.
Zonfrillo died on April 30, aged 46. His body was found at a hotel on Lygon street in Melbourne, the day before MasterChef was due to premiere.
Zonfrillo’s wife, Lauren Fried and four children attended the service, along with Masterchef co-judges, Andy Allen and Melissa Leong, and fellow TV chefs George Calombaris, Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel.
Jimmy Barnes attended the funeral in a kilt, paying tribute to Zonfrillo’s Scottish heritage. He also sang Amazing Grace at the service.
Zonfrillo’s coffin was adorned with Royal Banner of Scotland.
Fried paid tribute to her husband with a touching speech.
“We are two halves that found each other at the exact moment in life when we were ready. We were ready for that big love to live a life of adventure, to become parents together, to imagine extraordinary things and to actually make them happen.
Zonfrillo’s daughter Ava, added: “It goes without saying that at the heart of everything you did was family. And one of the hardest things to accept is that you won’t be here to see ours grow.”
Following his death, MasterChef’s premiere was delayed a week. The show premiered on May 7, with approval from his family.
