Singer Jessie J has revealed she suffered a miscarriage in a heartbreaking Instagram post. The 33-year old told her followers that she had made the decision to “have a baby on my own” after splitting from her boyfriend of 7 months, Max Pham in October.
Earlier in the week, Jessie had visited doctors for her third scan, only to be told that they couldn’t find a heartbeat.
“Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying ‘seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant’. By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down…” she wrote.
Despite her immense pain, the singer revealed that she would be going ahead with her performance in LA because “singing will help me.”
In the second slide on her post, Jessie shared a quote from Australian poet Şeyda Noir which reads, “Sometimes love won’t be enough to make it work, and that’s ok. It doesn’t mean that you’ve failed.”
Jessie was previously dating Channing Tatum off-and-on for two years, breaking up for good in 2020. She then began dating dancer Max Pham, but unfortunately the relationship ended last month. She insisted that ‘nothing dramatic’ happened between them, before calling him ‘an amazing man.’
When asked what her relationship status was, Jessie said: “Open, happy and loving myself.”
After splitting from Max, she made the decision to have a child by herself, because it’s always been her dream to be a mother.
“I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again.”
The emotional post ended with Jessie sharing her love and support for every other woman who has lost a child to miscarriage.
“Im still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming. But I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok.
I also know millions of women all over the world have felt this pain and way worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t. 🫂
It’s the loneliest feeling in the world.”
