The trailer for Jennifer Aniston’s new movie Dumplin’ is here, and you should add it to your holiday viewing list *immediately*.
Netflix and Jen Aniston have teamed up for the first time ever to bring to life Julie Murphy’s 2015 best-selling novel Dumplin’, about a confident Texas teen who sets out to redefine people’s beauty standards.
Dumplin’ tells the story of Willowdean Dickson (Danielle Macdonald), a “self-proclaimed fat girl” whose mum (Jennifer Aniston) is a former beauty queen and a well-known figure on the local pageant circuit who’s affectionately dubbed her daughter ‘Dumplin’.
As per adolescence, Willowdean takes a hit to her “don’t care what other people think” attitude due to a boy and sets out to get back the confidence she’s always had by entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant, to show that she “deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does.”
Dumplin’ has an air of much-needed progressiveness and is looking like it’s going to be one of those rare movies where the plus-size character actually likes her body while confronting people’s narrow views of beauty.
Not once does Willowdean express any interest in losing weight or altering her appearance for the pageant, which already makes Dumplin’ a body positive flick.

Dumplin’ will land on Netflix December 7.
