The news of Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx’s split just weeks after Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth ended their marriage and Bella Hadid and The Weeknd broke up (again) was almost too much for us to take. But the reason behind the breakdown of their six year romance is even more devastating.
Despite making their red carpet debut in May of this year, it’s reported the couple split soon after their Met Gala appearance, something that was confirmed earlier this week after Foxx was spotted leaving a Los Angeles nightclub holding another woman – singer Sela Vave’s – hand (initially it was reported that Foxx was just helping her with her music and that the two are friends, but apparently that’s actually not the case).
As for why they split, with no confirmation or explanation from the former couple, we have no other choice but to wade through the numerous reports from ‘those close to them’ AKA sources, which seem to hint at Holmes being the one who called it quits due to Foxx seeing other women when they were dating. Strap in.
According to People‘s source, the relationship “ran its course. This industry is very tough on relationships…Jamie thinks Katie is an incredible human being. They had a very, very deep connection. They brought each other a lot of joy and laughter.”
ET‘s source isn’t ruling out the possibility of a reconciliation. “They never had a typical relationship…They have always been incredibly independent and their lives didn’t revolve around each other. They lived separately and in different cities and saw each other occasionally.” As to the source? “They are just both caught up with their own families, careers and obligations that their relationship had to take a back seat.”
Meanwhile, Us Weekly‘s source blamed the split on Foxx, saying the two were living “different lives” and that “It has been many years of him stepping out with other women…He’s disrespectful and their lives were different. His partying ways don’t fit with hers as she’s focused on raising her daughter and working.”
Page Six elaborates on Foxx’s behaviour a bit, saying that the couple’s problems started a few months ago and that Holmes was supposed to spend Memorial Day weekend with Foxx but they had a falling out beforehand. “Katie was supposed to go to Montauk to join Jamie, but he did something s–tty at the last minute, and that was that,” a source said. “He canceled on his own and never got on the plane.” The site notes that Foxx was instead seen at Disneyland that weekend.
