In case you didn’t know, Jameela Jamil is one skilled amateur makeup artist. Earlier this year, she did her own makeup for the MTV Movie & Video Awards, and now, she’s back at it again for her Emmys red carpet appearance. And the results were stunning.
We’re not just talking a touch of foundation here and a simple smoky eye there; the actress and activist went all out, donning a fiery coral lipstick, a precise winged eyeliner, rosy cheeks that looked so natural, and a bronzed eyeshadow across her lids topped off with a wash of gold on the inner corners.
During a red carpet interview with E!, Jameela explained how she got so savvy at wielding a makeup brush.
She said that while filming for her show, The Good Place, which is nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, she was shocked to find out that her male cast members only spent 30 minutes in the hair and makeup chair every day, whereas she had to rock up at 4.30am and endure an hour and 45 minutes of primping.
“Am I that ugly?” she jokingly said to her producers. “I just need half an hour in hair and makeup. I’ll do my own makeup,” she told them.
Not only did she get her way, she successfully managed to get her makeup routine down to a cool half hour.
So impressed.
Also, anyone else getting Princess Jasmine vibes from this seafoam-blue Monique Lhuillier gown? *Swoon*.
