Whether it be work, home or financial-related stress, to name a few, it is all too common. With stress having a negative impact on your day-to-day life, it’s important to learn how to recognise and manage it.

Here are five physical indicators that you really need to take some time to chill out.

You’re Always Sick

It’s a fact that stress weakens your immune system, making you far more vulnerable to catch colds, flus and infections. If you’re constantly unwell or feeling rundown, it can be related directly to your stress levels. Your body will also take longer to fight off the illness if you’re putting it under too much pressure.

Low Energy Levels Or Fatigue

Even if you’re getting the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep per night, stress cause the body to feel physically drained. If you feel like you can’t shake this feeling, it is another sign you’re putting your body under too much strain.

You’re Suffering From Insomnia

While there are various causes of the sleep disorder, there is a clear link between stress and the ability to sleep. If you’ve recently found yourself struggling to get shut-eye, you could be suffering from acute insomnia (short-term) caused by high stress without relief. For prevention and relief, we suggest regularly participating in exercise, meditation or deep breathing.

You’re Constantly Getting Headaches

Almost everyone has experienced tension headaches caused by stress at some point. While stress may be an unavoidable part of your life, taking pain relief too often can cause long-term harm to your body. If you’re getting these headaches on a regular basis it is important to understand how to relieve stress via relaxation.

Body Tenseness Or Muscle Aches

Muscle aches and body tightness is a common symptom of stress. Stress can alter your adrenaline and hormone levels having a direct impact on your muscles and nerves.

Tension in the shoulders, neck, and head can cause headaches or migraines that will only heighten your stress levels. If you feel like you’re putting too much pressure on yourself, we suggest getting a massage, taking breaks in the fresh air, staying hydrated and getting sufficient sleep.
