Gwen Stefani was devastated to find out on February 9 in 2015 that her husband, Gavin Rossdale, was cheating on her, and recently told a fashion magazine that it was the beginning of one of the worst periods of her life. The pair had been married for 14 years, and Rossdale was cheating on her with their nanny.
“It was the beginning of hell. Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret.”
She said that moving in with her friend helped enormously to get through the breakup. However she just couldn’t believe what had happened.
“My dreams were shattered,” Stefani said. “All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have.”
She went on to say that one of the worst parts was only being able to have the kids stay with her half of the time. This made things even more difficult to deal with, and she couldn’t understand what she’d done wrong.
When she started on The Voice, she felt dreadful about her situation, thinking she was holding back a ‘big secret’. But she remembers Blake Shelton coming forward with his experience of divorce, which would be finalised before the show went to air.
“It was like being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing at the exact same time.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani soon got into a relationship, and things are starting to look up for her.
“I’m at a certain time in my life where I feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. Every day is art, you know? Some days are really bad, and some days are so good.”
