First, we were enchanted by the House Of Gucci. Now, the luxury Italian label is inviting us into their enthralling Gucci Garden, an immersive gallery exhibition called Gucci Garden Archetypes in celebration of the maison’s century-long reign as one of the most desirable fashion brands.
While most 100th birthdays are marked by the hot girl diet (see: champagne and caviar), Gucci are staying true to their travel-oriented origins by embarking on a world tour celebrating creative director Alessandro Michele’s astute devotion to idiosyncratic design and eccentric, addictive, fashion.
The Gucci Garden Archetypes, which made its debut in Florence before making its way across Asia-Pacific in Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul, will finally be gracing Australian shores in late November, the perfect way to celebrate the silly season for fashion fanatics.
Given Gucci’s distinct aesthetic and Australia’s appetite for avant-garde displays of legendary designers (hello, Gabrielle Chanel and Alexander McQueen), this limited run installation is a multi-sensorial escape that will revisit Gucci’s archive and archetypes.
What Will The Gucci Garden Archetypes Exhibition Entail?
Similar to the previous Gucci Garden Archetypes exhibitions, Sydney’s show will be a retrospective will explore Michele’s six-year helm of the luxury Italian maison, his biggest contribution (which for us is a toss up of his quite literally exquisite Kubrick-inspired FW22 campaign, and star-studded Love Parade runway show) and virtuosic campaigns.
An ode to an autore.
With Michele’s penchant for the subversive, cinematic and unexpected, we can expect a coup de théâtre at every turn.
As Michele himself said about the opening of the Florentine exhibition, “We’ve made Gucci excessively eclectic because we live in an excessively eclectic reality”.
While we’re not sure what else the Powerhouse and Gucci have in store, but we’re picturing entering the exhibition could be slightly similar to the psychedelic wondrous boat ride from Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Come with Gucci and we’ll be in a world of pure imagination.
Where Will The Gucci Garden Archetypes Exhibition Take Place?
Sydney will play home to the Gucci Garden Archetypes, with the exhibition touching down at the Powerhouse in Ultimo.
Speaking on the exhibition, Powerhouse Chief Executive Lisa Havilah, teased the exhibition will be a “unique and special experience”.
“Alessandro Michele never fails to push us forward into diverse, contemporary visual worlds that we have yet to imagine,” Havilah added.
Where To Buy Tickets For The Gucci Garden Archetypes Exhibition.
The Gucci Garden Archetypes exhibition will be running at the Powerhouse in Ultimo, Sydney, from November 17 2022 to January 15 2023.
Thankfully for us, the Gucci gods have blessed us by making this exhibition free. What does that mean? More cash in the bank to pick up a vintage Jackie or beloved GG Marmont.
