With so many new Victoria’s Secret Angels being announced every week, it can be hard to keep up. Adding to the rotation which already includes names like Candice Swanepoel, Taylor Hill and Stella Maxwell, four new models have been tapped for the highest of Victoria’s Secret honours. Becoming an Angel, which means you get to wear wings, open and close segments and keep a year-round contract with the brand, has long been considered one of the most impressive resumé fillers for a model’s career. Past Angels like Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and Alessandro Ambrosio have gone on to become some of the highest paid models in the world, launching their own businesses and becoming household names. Below, the new names to watch for the 2019 show.
Grace Elizabeth
22-year-old Grace Elizabeth has been walking and modelling for Victoria’s Secret for a few years now, so her appointment as an Angel wasn’t exactly a shock. A regular in the PINK segment and in campaigns for the brand, Grace Elizabeth’s girl-next-door image has been a hit with fans of the brand. Becoming an Angel isn’t the only exciting contract the Florida native has to her name, however, with the model already citing an ambassadorship with Estée Lauder and campaigns with the likes of Versace and Chanel in her cache.
Expressing her love for the brand, Grace Elizabeth was quick to gush her thanks to friends and family.
“I can’t even express how grateful I am to all of my family, friends, and fans for your constant support and belief in me,” she wrote on Instagram. “You guys have been the biggest force behind my journey. I’m so excited for this next chapter in my life and in my career.”
Barbara Palvin
The first of the new Angels to be announced, Barbara Palvin is a serious crowd favourite. The 25-year-old model who hails from Hungary first walked for the brand in 2012 before returning in 2018. She has since appeared in campaigns for the brand and was expected to be tapped as an Angel. Currently dating Dylan Sprouse, one half of the Sprouse twins, Palvin credits his support as part of her Victoria’s Secret success.
“I am proud to represent Hungary, and most importantly, all of you in this new chapter of my life! Thank you all so much again ♥️♥️♥️”
Leomie Anderson
The only model of colour amongst the newbies, 26-year-old Leomie Anderson first walked for Victoria’s Secret in 2015 before being handed her Angel wings in 2019. Currently living in London, Anderson is one of two new British models (Alexina Graham, below, is also newly tapped) to be anointed with the highest of honours. Hailing from South London, Anderson is of Jamaican heritage and is a favourite amongst Fenty Beauty and Pat McGrath.
Alexina Graham
As the first ever red head Angel, Alexina Graham certainly made history when it was announced she would be graduating to her Angel wings. The 29-year-old is the oldest new Angel, but the second British model to be announced this year. Growing up in the Midlands in England, Graham said she hoped her fiery head of hair would inspire another generation of women.
“I think for me being a red head VS Angel means I get to put red heads out there more. Being an Angel is part of having that media outreach so that I can say to young red head kids, ‘you can do anything you want! Nothing is impossible!’” she said after the announcement.
