While all eyes shift to Cannes for its annual film festival, there is another on the annual calendar to which A-listers, models and VSPs (Very Stylish People) flock. The 81st Venice International Film Festival commenced this week in the Italian city renowned for its winding canals, romantic bridges and unmatched combination of glamour and drama. One of the most prestigious events in the film industry, the festival serves as the launching pad for many anticipated features.
The year, the week kicked off with the world premiere of Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, the long awaited sequel to the 1998 Tim Burton blockbuster starring Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder. We can also expect appearances from the likes of Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga and Angeline Jolie as each debuts a new film to enthralled audiences.
But before we get a chance to see the works in cinemas, we first get to enjoy the red carpet fashion brought by our favourite stars. From luscious designer gowns, to extravagant jewels, to cool photo call ‘fits and more dark shades than we can count, here are some of the best looks from the festival.
