A new wave of entitlement is washing up on the shores of the gorgeous island of Koh Samui, as fresh guests check in at the White Lotus in Thailand.
The third instalment of The White Lotus (which you can stream now here) features an all-new cast, save for Natasha Rothwell, and with their arrival comes all the style inspiration we could desire for our next poolside expedition.
The sartorial impact of the show has been felt since season one, from spotlighting designer buys viewers instantly add to cart to entire capsule collections being collaborated on with brands.
With the premiere of season three, it’s H&M that’s expertly tapped the show’s costume designer, Alex Bovaird, for their new White Lotus-inspired collection.
“We always have this little catchphrase on the show: ‘Nothing’s too much for The White Lotus!’ So, I’m drawn more to the bold patterns and the more sumptuous, billowing pieces,” Bovaird says of the collaboration.
As for this season’s characters, Bovaird tells Vogue UK she wanted the entire Ratliff family to look like “they just stepped out of a Ralph Lauren catalogue.”
Then, there’s the gossiping trio of 40-something women; TV actor Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Austin socialite Kate (Leslie Bibb) and New York City lawyer Laurie (Carrie Coon). Despite their enviable designer-laden closets—we spy Valentino, Loewe, Zimmermann and Alemais, to name a few—Bovaird says “they’re supposed to look interchangeable.”
It’s unexpected couple, Rick (Walton Goggins) and Chelsea (Amy Lou Wood), that grate against the well-dressed White Lotus crowd. While Chelseas gives off a “louche, sexy, Bridget Bardot” vibe, Rick is more laissez-faire, like a dishevelled expat with deep pockets.
No matter who amongst the cast you’re taking inspiration from, there’s no shortage of White Lotus outfit inspiration to be drawn from. So, let’s shop.
