A concert of creativity (Fashion! Music! Film!) was on display at Stella McCartney’s intimate viewing party in Los Angeles for the highly anticipated The Beatles: Get Back film.
Directed by Peter Jackson, the documentary series utilises never-before-seen archival footage of the awesome foursome, chronicling the breakdown of the band during the making of their seminal classic album Let It Be.
Arguably some of The Beatles’ greatest work of all time, this magnus opus was the twelfth and final recording from the group, commencing with an impromptu rooftop concert and ultimately resulting in their split.
Celebrating the release of the film, fashion designer (and Beatles offspring) Stella McCartney gathered her famous friends in the City of Angels for an evening of counterculture-era debauchery and elegance.
The 70s style dress code, although not enforced, was clearly embraced by the celebrity set with many a vintage-esque look turned on the red carpet.
McCartney looked like the splitting image of her father, albeit more fashionable, wearing a white blazer and sparkling crystal adorned tights for the occasion.
Laura Dern welcomed the theme in full stride, channelling a modern day Yoko Ono in a fur-look (we hope fake) knee-grazing trench coat and camel coloured turtleneck.
Also in attendance was Amber Valletta, who wore a classic two-piece suit with fringe detailing, and Alessandra Ambrosio, wearing a timeless denim dress from none other than the hostess with the mostess herself, Stella McCartney.
Kate Hudson looked like she was reprising her role as 70s groupie Penny Lane (named fittingly after the classic track) from Almost Famous. Accompanied by her mother Goldie Hawn, Hudson donned a shining blue cami and pant with red lace detailing and white platform boots, serving major Ziggy Stardust realness.
John Lennon’s sons, Julian and Sean, were also present at the musical evening.
The fashion designer was also celebrating the release of her latest The Beatles collection, entitled Get Back in honour of the film.
The capsule boasts classic Beatles iconography and psychedelic style prints, including Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band military silhouettes on a series of sweaters, t-shirts and totes.
The summer of love is once again upon us and here to stay for good, courtesy of The Beatles and Stella McCartney. In the words of the fab four themselves, can you dig it?
While we’re waiting with baited breath for the film to be released on Disney+, we’ll be spending our time shopping McCartney’s newest offering.
