When it comes to eyewear many stylists and celebrities have been known to have just as many pairs of frames as slides and it is easy to understand why. The options are endless, with a selection that is bigger than ever and constantly changing with the seasons. Eyewear is the versatile accessory that can transform an outfit with just a glance. Here are the ten styles we can’t get enough of this season.
So what should we be keeping our eyes on? Stewart Walton, Head Buyer for OPSM knows all about the latest designer styles. “Look out for micro wire-frames as an elegant nod to the ‘90s and early 2000s,” Stewart suggests. And there’s more – ranging from round to oversized classics, these are this season’s ultimate statement accessory…
1\ Tortoiseshell
If you’re looking for a casual frame that helps soften your angular features (hello Square face-shapes) tortoiseshell frames are what you need.
2\ Wire-frames
Buckle in ladies, “wire-frames flatter just about every face and shape thanks to their thin make-up” comments Marie Claire’s Senior Digital Fashion Editor, Francesca Wallace. Seen on Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez these frames go perfectly with just about any look, the thinner the better.
3\ Cat eye
“The subtle cat eye is having a moment. Flattering and a little bit of a statement, choose a frame with a bit of punch — think, coloured or thicker — to really make an impact” Francesca recommends.
4\ Patterns
Go big or go home! Add a playful splash to your everyday look with a patterned frame, the brighter the better.
5\ Square
It’s time to look to the future, futuristic glasses are in. The bigger the better, chunky square frames in bright prints and colours are on every fashionista’s shopping list. They add that extra oomph that can take a simple pair of jeans and sneakers to a whole new look.
6\ Translucent
When it comes to clear frames don’t be afraid to go for a thicker frame than you normally would. Clear frames are softer on your face so you can also go a little wider than you usually would, and if you’re looking for a new pair of sunglasses opt for a translucent frame with a brightly coloured or reflective lens.
7\ Red
Ruby red is the frame colour of this season so as the Autumnal leaves start to fall don’t shy away from adding a splash of red to your everyday look.
8\ Rimless
If you’re struggling to pick a versatile set of frames then why not go without? Rimless glasses open up the face, won’t go out of fashion and the best bit? They go with just about everything.
9\ Aviators
And for those with round face shapes, it is a godsend that these are back! Don’t limit yourself to sunglasses ditch the shades and use an aviator-style frame every day – Kendal Jenner does!
10\ Half and half
If you’re a newbie to the glasses world a pair of half/half lenses is a great launch pad. They offer a more subtle look that can be easily dressed up or down.
