We don’t mean to alarm you, but the hoop earring reign may be coming to an end.
While the style has been a mainstay in our jewellery collections–and likely will remain so–the hoop had become the earring du jour in recent years with chunky, twisted and textured huggie-esque styles becoming the perfect everyday staple.
We’ve been seeing a shift in focus, however, toward statement studs reminiscent of ‘80s clip-on shapes–and we’re not the only ones.
Founder of jewellery label Heaven Mayhem, Pia Mance, joined Siffat Haider on The Dream Bigger Podcast to chat all things jewellery where she forecasted the end of the hoop earring’s monopoly over our accessories.
“Obviously the big earrings are not going anywhere, [but] I think everyone’s so done with the hoop,” Pia said when asked about the next big jewellery trend.
To which host, Siffat added: “I feel like now it’s all about the statement big earring…it’s very ‘80s vibes.”
