In keeping with the BBC show’s writer overhaul – Suzanne Heathcote has taken to the helm – the small screen’s most stylish assassin has also fine-tuned her sartorial taste.

Under the creative direction of costume designer Sam Perry, the Russian protagonist – famed for a wardrobe bursting with Molly Goddard tulle, Rosie Assoulin silk and Ellery ruffles – dresses for a European murder spree.

With a retro finesse in correspondence to each city she drops by, Villanelle – played by British star Jodie Comer – commits no fashion crimes on the job.

To mark the series’ welcome return, we take a look at some of the greatest dressed-to-kill moments of season three and how you can recreate them.

The dress-of-the-season

Every season, Villanelle further demonstrates her knack of choosing really great dresses.

In fact, one of the very first sneak previews of her season three closet was a prim and proper floral frock from celebrity-approved label The Vampire’s Wife.

Hardcore fashion followers will be pleased to learn that the very dress – named Villanelle in her honour – is now available to pre-order.

The retro suit

In a fashionable nod to swinging London, Villanelle reports to duty in the British capital decked in Halpern print.

A look so good, only a swept quiff and Simon Miller platforms are needed to complete the dead-on-trend ensemble.

The European mini dress

Another groovy moment sees the hired killer settle into her Barcelona apartment in a suitably bright mini dress and cowboy boots.

The very La DoubleJ frock is up for grabs – trumpet-sleeves and all!

Meanwhile, Villanelle’s covetable shopper is available to pre-order (it’s screaming for us to whisk it on a romantic European tour).

For those tempted to go all out, a similar pair of Golden Goose cowboy boots are aching to be stomped around in.

A well-dressed assassin’s pyjama of choice

What does a fashion-obsessed villain wear to bed?

Silky Olivia Von Halle pyjamas, duh.

Although Villanelle’s season three pyjamas have sold out (she’s the only baddie we know with a hold over our shopping habits), a similar silk pyjama set is available to shop.

Just don’t wear them with slippers, you don’t want to get on the wrong side of fashion’s deadliest muse…
