Dior’s Spring Summer 2025 runway for Paris Fashion Week began not with a bang, but the precise whistle and thump of a razor-sharp arrow flying down the runway.

The influence of the Olympic and Paralympic games still evident with the show’s start as the French fashion house explores the connection between the body, fashion and sport, particularly in reference to femininity and equality.

For this, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, reimagines archival pieces, namely the Amazone dress, first designed by Christian Dior for their Autumn/Winter 1951-1952 collection—a piece that is rooted in legendary female power synonymous with courage, strength of spirit and womanhood.

Designs by Philippe Guibourgé for the House’s pioneering Dior Sport line in the 1960s were also reincarnated for the collection, with techno fabrics, straps, pockets, zips, fasteners and slouchy tailoring giving the silhouettes an urban and futuristic feel. See the metallic gladiator sneakers and you’ll know exactly what we mean.

The focus on the female body saw stretchy knitted fabrics sliced and wrapped snuggly around models for ease of movement, while bodysuits illuminated with metallic embroidery bring a sport-luxe edge.

To juxtapose this, ultra-feminine fabrics and details of shimmering metallics, fringing and shiny embellishments serve as a counterpoint to bring together lightweight evening dresses, bomber jackets and bodysuits. A true relfection of the complexity, power and duality of women.
