Ahead of her upcoming Australian Fashion Week show, Alice McCall tells us which VIP she's been most excited to dress.

What can we expect from your upcoming show?

Plenty of floral prints; but this season the pastels are a bit dusty with pops of colour to contrast: you’ll see a bright fuchsia and an acid apple green. Show stopping gowns are also key this season, essential for our celebrity audience.

What trends do you predict will be big this season?

I don’t really look at trends to be honest. Florals are always key, but there is also a masculine and feminine trend like a men’s trouser paired with a feminine blouse for example.

You have a huge celebrity following – who have you been most excited to see in one of your designs, and who would you love to dress?

We just had a historical moment with Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart who wore our black silk booties from our Portrait of a Lady collection at the Chanel Cruise show in Paris. The team was so proud! Such an exciting moment because we are launching new accessory categories this season including shoes, bags and belts.

I would love to have a mother/daughter moment with Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford – it would be fabulous to see both of them wearing my designs. I would also love to dress French singer, Josephine de la Baume – she is an icon to me, chic and effortless at the same time. Georgia May Jagger and Elizabeth Jagger would be amazing too! And Margot Robbie as an Australian icon.

Can you describe the Alice McCall woman?

She is diverse, embodies the sense of free spirit and style without having to be dictated by trends. She is confident and loves to celebrate life.

What’s the best piece of fashion advice you’ve been given?

The advice I give to myself is to dress how you feel. One day, I can be a business woman, another day wear a little 1950’s dress, or bohemian… Style changes for me as my moods do; it’s a form of creative expression, there is artistry to it and that’s what I really embrace in my designs.

 What’s your career highlight?

As a growing international brand, The New York show last February was a highlight for me. In the last six months, we have grown incredibly fast and have been picked up by international retailers such as Net-a-Porter, Liberty London, Bloomingdales, Intermix, Moda Operand and Lane Crawford.
