Say what you will about fast fashion and Instagram, but sometimes it’s good to have your finger on the pulse (or the heart button) when it comes to spotting cult products before anyone else.
As a fashion editor, it’s my job to spot trends before you’re even wearing them. Apart from scouring fashion week and training my eye to street style like my life depends on it, that means Instagram. A lot of Instagram. So it’s no surprise that I — and half the office — have had our eyes firmly planted on Rixo London’s Tina skirt since it was released last year.
First hitting some top tier influencers in December — Nadia Fairfax wore it just before Christmas — the skirt has now made its way to the northern hemisphere, with cool girl bloggers and fashion girls turning to the skirt to beat their January blues. Styling the skirt with jumpers, jackets and even pants, the skirt has definitely made the rounds on well-followed Instagram accounts, ensuring every fashion girl worth their Old Celine knows about it. Now, sold out on Net-A-Porter, we’re guessing it’s not long before the entire world is sporting a mellow yellow tiger print skirt.
Just like Realisation Par’s ‘Naomi’ leopard print skirt which spawned a thousand imitators in 2018, the Rixo version has the sort of punch that only comes with an It item. Apart from looking good on all body shapes, the pattern is trendy enough to maintain our love of animal print, but different enough to stand out. Your Naomi might be a good basic, but the Tina is just that little bit more a statement. Plus, if you’re inclined, it also comes in black and white.
Currently still available from the Rixo website, the skirt will set you back about $400, but is worth every cent for the ‘gram. You heard it here!
