When Rihanna announced she would be creating her own fashion line with LVMH, to say we were excited would be an understatement. After already reinventing the wheel in beauty and lingerie, we were unbashful in our excitement of Rihanna’s midas touch on fashion, too. Now, it’s here.
Revealing the first look book for the brand, aptly titled Fenty, fans of Rihanna have been wooed by the strong tailoring, inclusive sizing and flattering shapes. Complete with 18 full looks, the range features everything from power suits to denim skirts — quite the cache.
While the collection itself is casual, Rihanna’s approach to it is luxury in every sense. Made from high quality materials, there’s no question of LVMH’s influence on the line — which, as everyone predicted, would usher in a new era of more wearable “luxury” branded goods.
Priced from $320, the pieces aren’t cheap, but they do suit that luxury title. And, as Rihanna told Bloomberg, she wants to ensure she doesn’t skimp on quality. “I hope I can reach a broad audience. I can’t wait to walk outside and just run past someone who’s wearing it. I think that’ll be a huge moment for me,” she said.
As everything Rihanna does, the singer/designer/icon was adamant Fenty would be inclusive, saying she personally tried on every piece to ensure it fit more than one body type.
“I’m a curvy girl, and if my stuff doesn’t fit me, that’s not going to work,” she said. “I had to check how every piece works on my hips, my thighs, and make sure this isn’t something that just looks good on a fit model.”
Fenty’s first drop will be available from May 29.
