Colman Domingo Is In A Fashion League Of His Own

We might only be in the second month of the year, but Colman Domingo has already delivered looks that will forever live in our heads rent free. Case in point, this Valentino ensemble from the Spring 2025 Pavillon Des Folies collection, replete with gold embroidery, tassels, fringing and embellishment for days.

Mustard, gold and ice blue were the winning combination for Colman Domingo at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, who was there to celebrate his Best Actor nomination for Rustin. He might not have walked away with the trophy, but his Valentino Haute Couture look swept the red carpet style awards in our minds. How could it not? With the metallic Louboutin boots, Bulgari jewellery and Omega watch making up just part of the deliciously gilded moment.

Whoever said pink and red could never be worn together had clearly never seen Colman Domingo walk the Academy Awards red carpet in a fuchsia suit embroidered with thousands of Swarovski crystals. No notes.

Everything from the garnet pants, bow-adorned brogues and delicate lace gloves – accessorised with Tiffany & Co jewels, no less – to the Choupette-inspired bag and bedazzled glasses gave an award-winning sartorial performance.

While Colman Domingo might have been at the film awards to accept his Spotlight Award for Sing Sing, he walked away with more than just the one award that night. An embroidered jacket draped over perfectly cuffed grey pants and deep brown ballet flats provided a characterful base for the classic Colman touches courtesy of jewellery by Bondeye and Melinda Maria.

He might have opted for a more pared back look for the Gothams red carpet, but there’s nothing basic about this Burberry number. From the Christian Louboutin Samson Orlato suede boots to the textured caramel coat and taupe striped suit, we can’t get enough of this sophisticated play on neutral styling.

Colman’s Haute Couture Week ensemble is a match made in maximalist heaven. Houndstooth, paisley and zebra print? Oui, oui!

If anyone needed confirmation that the Country renaissance (thank you Beyoncé) is very much alive in 2025, then they need look no further than Colman Domingo’s western-inspired getup for the Costume Designers Guild Awards. The sharp edges of the gilded lapels are a satisfying swerve away from the military detailing the brand, and its design lead Rousteing, has become synonymous with over the years. Did someone say yee-haw?

Colman Domingo’s black and white fit is proof that monochrome never has to be boring. Dressed in a Marni cream jacquard silk shirt and geometric raglan-sleeve jacket with cream nappa leather pants, the actor topped off the look with a pair of Manolo Blanhnik shoes that added a softening touch.

What happens when you mix a style icon like Domingo with a CFDA award-winning designer? This heavenly look, of course. Fit for 2024’s Met Gala theme: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, Chavarria opted for a romantic interpretation of classic men’s tailoring with an exaggerated silhouette and dreamy drapery. The stuff of sartorial dreams, indeed.

I mean… Do we really need to say it? Colman took the 2025 BAFTAs by sartorial storm, sauntering down the red carpet in head to toe Versace, complete with studded leather gloves, patent pointed boots and leather coat lined in the brand’s iconic prints. A matching shirt left tantalisingly unbuttoned was adorned with Tiffany & Co jewellery, including the brooch that sent the marie claire team into a spin.
