From awards red carpets and global premieres, to major personal style evolutions and everything in between, 2024 was a year of seriously memorable celebrity fashion looks.
When the world felt chaotic, we could always count on stars to serve up some swift sartorial distractions, and for that we remain eternally grateful.
Both on, and off the red carpet, celebrities brought their fashion A-game.
Blockbuster promotional tours for shows such as Bridgerton – where the stars served us Regencycore realness, flooded our feeds, with huge releases like Gladiator II, and of course, Wicked (or rather, Glicked) carrying the torch for press tour fashion over from the Barbie mania of 2023.
And who could forget the stellar statements from celebrities who presented some of their best looks ever – here’s looking at you Pamela Anderson and Anne – ages like fine wine – Hathaway.
Don’t even get us started on Jennifer Lawrence and her enviable maternity style!
There were simply too many good looks to choose from, but we’ve done our best to wrap up some of the most talked-about fashion takes of the last 12-months.
As 2024 comes to a close, we count down the most stylish and memorable celebrity fashion looks of the year below.
Nicole Kidman in Schiaparelli Couture
For the Venice Film Festival premiere of Nicole Kidman’s eagerly awaited film Babygirl, the star wore Schiaparelli Couture from the Fall 2024 collection.
Daisy Edgar-Jones in Chloé
During her press tour for Twisters, Daisy Edgar-Jones made the case for Boho being back in a very real way. Spotted in NYC, coffee in hand, sunglasses on, sporting a deliciously floaty blue Chloé two-piece, she proved she could do no wrong this year.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky in Christian Lacroix and Bottega Veneta
This year’s Fashion Awards presented by Pandora had no shortage of major celebrity fashion moments, but it was Rhianna’s turquoise wrap coat and faux fur hat from Christian Lacroix’s fall 2002 couture collection that stole the show. Of course, ASAP’s dapper Bottega Veneta navy chore coat suit and red leather tie was an equally as inspired choice. No notes.
Zendaya in Mugler
This could have very easily become a Zendaya fan page with the amount of looks the megastar served across her myriad fashion outings this year. But certainly the most memorable goes to this 10/10 archival Mugler robot suit from 1995, worn during the London premiere of Dune II.
Hunter Schafer in custom Prada
Hunter Schafer’s custom Prada gown was a picture of ballet-slipper brilliance on the Golden Globes red carpet, taking diaphanous dressing to delirious new heights. Heaven.
Tyla in Balmain
Part dress, part sculpture, this floor-grazing body-cast gown by Balmain had us gasping as we watched Tyla appear on the Met red carpet this year. Not included but equally revered, was the afterparty mini dress version.
Phoebe Dynevor in Victoria Beckham
Phoebe Dynevor became the first person to wear Victoria Beckham to the Met Gala, and aren’t we all the better for it. This floaty, ethereal number may have been Bridgerton-coded but its diaphanous draping and confectionary-pink colourway transported the look to the next level.
Zendaya in custom Loewe
Yes we know Zendaya features heavily on this list… but how could we not include the slinky tennis-court-green custom Loewe number she wore on her Challengers press tour? Premiere perfection – as always.
Pamela Anderson in Oscar De La Renta
This soft mint green Oscar De La Renta gown worn by Pamela Anderson at the Women of the Year awards, was one of the icon’s most stunning looks to date.
Emily Ratajkowski in Donna Karan
This backless brown satin and velvet gown from Donna Karan’s fall 1996 collection was a truly magic choice matched only by one of the most glamorous hairstyles of the LACMA style set.
Jennifer Lawrence in Bottega Veneta
Jennifer Lawrence arrives at the 2024 Governors Awards in November wearing a showstopping custom Bottega Veneta dress, accessorised with Ana Khouri jewellery and Manolo Blahnik shoes.
Riley Keough in Chanel
Riley Keough took flight in a life-sized aviary, performing to a room of adoring onlookers during Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2025 show. One for the musical memory bank for sure.
Nicola Coughlan in Rodarte
Nicola Coughlan stunned in a corseted custom Rodarte blush bridal-style gown covered in pearlescent sequins. The royal red opera gloves are a decadent touch, leading to the almost painterly ruffles that frame the bust and shoulders.
The piece was inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, which according to her stylist Aimée Croysdill, depicts “one of the most beautiful bodies every painted,” and was a cheeky little nod to Penelope’s story arc in the remaining episodes of Bridgerton Season 3.
Olivia Wilde in Erdem
Olivia Wilde opted for a lush fern green Erdem gown with delicate boning under an overlay of sheer lace with metallic detailing. The dress was a standout choice for a red carpet where many attendees went the monochromatic route. Pocketed perfection.
Ayo Edebiri in custom Bottega Veneta
Ayo Edebiri emerged from 2024 as the queen of the effortlessly cool red carpet look. Case in point, this custom Bottega Veneta strapless gown crafted from a sequin-embellished laser-cut 3D print that topped everyone’s best dressed lists.
Saoirse Ronan in Louis Vuitton
Saoirse Ronan had arguably one of the most impressive style evolutions of the year. After Ronan tapped stylist Danielle Goldberg to assist her with a big year of red carpets – thanks to her starring roles in Steve McQueen’s Blitz, and indie passion project, The Outrun – the pair continued their partnership, leading to a serious sartorial shift for the star.
Pedro Pascal & Lux Pascal in Bottega Veneta and Stephanie Roland
Taking out the title of 2024’s most stylish siblings, Pedro sent the internet into an absolute tailspin when the doting brother was seen adjusting his sister’s incredible Stephanie Roland FW24 couture gown. The genetically blessed pair went for matching black ensembles, each with their own subtle detailing.
Saoirse Ronan in Ferragamo
We couldn’t talk about Saoirse’s sartorial (r)evolution and not include the all-blue number that stopped the marie claire office in its tracks. The deep blue jewel tones of this Ferragamo look: So chic. So effortlessly cool.
Don’t even get us started on the Thistles sunglasses – dare we say this outfit is almost too good?
Emma Corrin in custom Miu Miu
While Emma Corrin never fails to execute a perfect outfit, her press tour looks for Dracula-thriller Nosferatu have been something else entirely. Proving that method dressing is very much alive and well – this black sheer custom Miu Miu dress makes the case for a gothic renaissance that we’re very keen to get behind come 2025.
