Prince Harry’s proposal to Meghan Markle was lowkey by royal standards–over roast chicken on a cosy night in. However there’s nothing ordinary about the ring he designed just for Meghan.
The yellow-gold ring features three brilliant Asher-cut diamonds, this shape is known for its geometric facets which give serious sparkle.
The stones were set on a gold band made by the Queen’s jeweler, Cleave and Company, which was designed by Harry himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The two smaller stones are from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection. The larger stone was sourced from Botswana, where the couple travelled on their first trip together in August 2017.
And it’s estimated that if the ring included perfect diamonds, it could cost between $300,000 to $350,000. If using mid-range diamonds, it would cost closer to $35,000 to $40,000, according to Amanda Winters from Blue Nile, one of the largest online retailers for diamonds.
“She didn’t even let me finish. She said ‘can I say yes, can I say yes?’ And then were was hugs and I had the ring in my finger, and I [asked] can I give you the ring?”
Prince Harry revealed during the couple’s first interview with the BBC.
