What does one do on a rainy day in New York City in early September? Well, if you’re a member of the celebrity style set the easiest (and most stylish) way to escape the elements is by taking your front row seat at America’s biggest fashion event: New York Fashion Week.
Kicking off the ‘big four’, that being the four fashionable cities showing their upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 womenswear collections known as fashion month, New York Fashion Week has circled back once again.
While the perennially stylish New Yorkers (think: Katie Holmes, Olivia Palermo and Sarah Jessica Parker) may have the front row uniform down pat—always something from the designer, if you’re courteous—it’s the out of towners (as Manhattanites call them) that are really pulling out all the stops on the front row.
Take Kim Kardashian for example, who showed up at Fendi’s extravagant special-edition runway show for the iconic baguette dripping in Kim Jones haute couture.
While SJP was clearly sartorially referencing her beloved character, Carrie, Kim was looking like a mix of Samantha and Charlotte, with a hint of Miranda (she is a soon-to-be lawyer, after all).
There was no side character energy on Fendi’s front row, they’re all main characters in their own right.
At Tommy Hilfiger, Americana was proudly on display with American royalty showing up in red, white and blue. Members of America’s first family, the Kardashians, showed off Hilfiger’s upcoming collection with British designer Richard Quinn, while London’s reigning fashion queen, Kate Moss, posed with Lila Moss’ best friend, Stella Jones.
Across town at Proenza Schouler, supermodels Karlie Kloss and Emily Ratajkowski watched on as Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner cemented the brand as an NYC must-have.
Elsewhere, at avant apocalypse designer Elena Velez’s warehouse show, Julia Fox proved that a fashion show is a family friendly affair and brought her one-year-old son, Valentino. We’re not sure if he received his own invite or if it was a plus one situation, but it was proof there’s no age restrictions on the front row.
