Is it bad we’re completely obsessed with shoes? We can’t help it, but our closets seem to be piled up with more shoes than we can count. There’s the Chelsea boots perfect for walking, the strappy sandals for special occasions, the chunky sneakers for the weekend… the thigh high boots just made for Saturday nights. The list goes on. So when fashion week rolls around, it’s safe to say we’re all about the shoes.
New York fashion week, which this year was packed with must-have looks and fabulous street style, was a winner when it came to footwear. Gone were the chunky, ugly sneakers and in were the unexpected shapes and fresh takes on classic styles. From reinvented mules to the return of the lace up bootie, the runways were packed with favourites. Being the autumn/winter season, most were versions of the classic boot, but iterations of the Mary-Jane and 2000s-era platforms were spotted, too. Packed with punch, these shoes provided a much-needed antidote to the clothes they were worn with, which were refreshingly light in tone and style. From weird to downright wonderful, below we’ve rounded up our favourites.
