While many events and largely populated areas, including Coachella and Disneyland, have been either postponed or shutdown due to the Coronavirus, it has been confirmed the Met Gala will still go ahead on Monday 4th May. “We are proceeding as planned and look forward to a wonderful evening,” Nancy Chilton, the chief external relations officer of the Costume Institute, told The Cut.

Below, what we know about the event:
From Lady Gaga’s four wardrobe changes to Rihanna’s internet-breaking yellow gown, the Met Gala has long been the most anticipated red carpet event of the year with the biggest names in music, film, fashion and entertainment going all out with their costumes to match the annual ball’s theme.
Last year’s Met Gala saw attendees dress to arguably the best theme yet – ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ – and now, six months out from the 2020 event, the focus of the next Met Gala has been announced: Time.

Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge of the Costume Institute at the museum, has confirmed the theme for the 2020 ball is ‘About Time: Fashion and Duration.’ The event will mark the Met’s 150th anniversary and will be partly inspired by Virginia Woolf and the theories of the early-20th-century French philosopher Henri Bergson, The New York Times has revealed.
“Fashion is indelibly connected to time,” Bolton explained of the theme. “It not only reflects and represents the spirit of the times, but it also changes and develops with the times.”
The night will be chaired by Nicolas Ghesquière of Louis Vuitton, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anna Wintour, and Meryl Streep, who will be attending her first ever Met Gala.
Whether guests will go literal or timeless, only time will tell…
