The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are already in preparation mode for their royal tour of Australia and New Zealand this October, including finalising looks for the many events scheduled Down Under.
But when Meghan Markle was confirming one of her looks – a Stella McCarney tuxedo-style pantsuit – Prince Harry reportedly told his new bride she’d have to switch the outfit for something more traditional.
“Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal,” a source from the fashion team at Kensington Palace told the Daily Mail. “Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.”
Despite Meghan wearing pants a fair number of times since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry – and a pantsuit while on her first royal tour in Ireland, Queen Elizabeth reportedly likes royal women to wear dresses and skirts, something Meghan has been struggling with.
There’s potential Meghan’s daring dress sense also reminds HRH of Princess Diana’s rebellious fashion sense with Daily Mail noting, “Prince Charles has nicknamed his new daughter-in-law ‘tungsten’ after becoming faintly amused by her unbending ways.”
