With royal fashion experts and endless events to attend, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle certainly know how to deliver a great fashion moment.
As two of the most photographed women in the world, each of their fashion moments is nothing short of elegant. And while being a royal certainly has its downfalls, it also boasts some enviable positives, being an incredible wardrobe.
And since we know all about the Duchesses strict dress code and fashion hacks, it seems that certain piece of their wardrobes overlap with each other. After all, it would be hard not to.
While we will never know if these two sister-in-law’s share style secrets, or even wardrobes, they certainly share taste, and are often seen wearing the same, if not almost identical, fashion pieces.
Are they sharing fashion tips or simply on the same fashion wavelength? Below, the eight times that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle seemingly shared the exact same fashion item.
Burgundy Red Coats
A twist on a neutral palette, burgundy is another colour way that seems to never go out of style. Kate first worse the trend in 2018, with a Dolce & Gabbana coat in Norway. While Meghan appeared in a Club Monaco version at the Hubb Community Kitchen later that same year.
A Moment In Canary Yellow
A shock to some, it seems that canary yellow is not off the table when it comes to royal style. Starting with a Brandon Maxwell sheath dress worn by Meghan, during the Your Commonwealth Youth Challenge, Kate immediately followed suit by wearing a similar Dolce & Gabbana version to Wimbledon in 2018.
Neutral Coloured Coats
There’s no fashion staple quite like the neutral coat. Forever timeless, Kate was first spotted wearing a cream Max Mara Studio coat during a visit to Portsmouth in 2015, whereas Meghan’s most memorable coat moment saw her wearing a The Label coat of the same shade, during her and Harry’s engagement announcement in 2017.
An Emerald Green Number
A flattering shade for both, the Duchesses are certainly a fan of an emerald number. Kate Middleton chose to wear her Catherine Walker version, during the first day on her Sweden Tour in 2018. Whereas, Meghan went for the same shade in a dress by Parosh for the WellChild Awards in 2019.
Navy Blue Military Coats
With the royal families ties to the military, it’s only fitting that the Duchesses love to wear similar style coats. Wearing a Mackage coat, Meghan seemed first to the trend in December 2017, whereas Kate’s similar coat from Hobbs was worn visiting the Reach Academy Feltham in 2018.
Ladies In Scarlet
Surprising us all by wearing such a vibrant hue, it seems that scarlet reds aren’t a no-go zone when it comes to royal fashion. Kate certainly knows how to master the hue, with an asymmetrical Preen gown during her royal visit to Victoria in 2016. Despite being before she entered the royal family, Meghan and Kate’s taste in fashion were always similar, with Meghan sporting a similar version from Jill Stuart during her appearance on The Today Show in the same year.
Checked Coats
Who doesn’t love a classic tartan coat? Meghan channelled the checked look during her first official visit to Scotland in 2018, with a Burberry coat. Whereas, Kate wore her Alexander McQueen version of the trend on a visit to St. Andrew’s in 2012.
A Lace Moment
Even before she became a royal member, Meghan sported an elegant, and ever-so stylish lace dress at the A More Perfect Union: Stories of Prejudice and Power event in Los Angeles, while Kate wore a Diane Von Furstenberg lace number in 2014, to attend the Royal Variety Performance in London.
