The 1 Colour Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton Will Never Wear In Public

Orange is not the new black for the Duchesses

The Duchess of Sussex and The Duchess of Cambridge or Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton as they’re more casually known, rarely put a sartorial foot wrong, making fashion and style choices that are envied and copied the world over.

In fact, 37-year-old Markle is so feted for her style – a blush pink Carolina Herrera dress one day, a canary yellow Brandon Maxwell dress the next – there’s even a term, the ‘Meghan Markle Effect’, for why everything she wears immediately sells out.

But have you ever noticed that while Markle and Middleton wear many different hues from the colour wheel including white, pale pink, baby blue, forest green, jet black, denim, navy, yellow even red, there’s one colour missing from that line-up? Hint: it’s orange.

Notably, The Queen, who always wears bright hues so she can easily be seen in large crowds by all her adoring fans/subjects, is fine wearing vibrant tangerine hues. As recently as March, Her Majesty stepped out in a bright orange coat-dress paired with a matching hat to tour the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Which definitively answers the question of whether wearing orange breaks some old royal protocol rule, so why won’t The Duchesses wear it?

According to The Express, “There is no royal fashion rule preventing the royals from sporting the vibrant hue, but it is believed orange does not photograph as well as other colours.”

Fashion designers hoping to dress the fashion-forward Duchesses might want to take note, orange is not the new black, well atleast when it comes to Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s wardrobes.
