As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia comes to a close for another year, we’re taking a look back at some of the biggest street style trends from the week that was. From tie dye’s current reign to the resurgence of pockets, there was plenty to unpack from the street style set. Coming in hot on both summer and transeasonal trends — the weather made for either to be easy — editors, influencers and models embraced the relaxed and easygoing style Sydney is known for. See some of our favourite trends below.
The “Medium” Bag
Drawing on last season’s allure of the mini bag, this season the bags were kept small, but this time around they’ll actually fit your phone.

Belted Coats
A belted trench makes a statement on its own, but in leather or patchwork, it’s the piece of the season.
Two Piece Suits
Spotted everywhere in Sydney this week, the co-ord, two-piece suit has been huge — especially in sorbet and neutral shades.
Tie Dye
Huge on the New York streets in February, tie dye came to Sydney with strength for resort 2020. Worn on shirts, dresses, pants and even shoes (yes, we witnessed it), Sydneysiders had tie dye fever.
Utility Pockets
Always practical and ever useful, the big pocket was a standout throughout the week.

White
White on white was the week’s biggest colour (or lack thereof) trend. Worn layered in thick cottons, showgoers put like materials together for a tough take on the neutral.
