Louise Trotter has been appointed as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta.
The designer will replace Matthieu Blazy, who bid adieu to the fashion house hours earlier to take up the new role as creative director of Chanel.
Trotter will begin her role at the Italian luxury house early 2025. “I am deeply honored to join Bottega Veneta as creative director. The House’s storied legacy of artistry and innovation is truly inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to its future and celebrate its timeless vision,” she said in a press release.
Francesca Bellettini, Kering deputy CEO in charge of brand development, added: “Louise brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Bottega Veneta’s tradition of bold creativity and unparalleled excellence. She is the ideal creative talent to carry forward, alongside Leo Rongone and the Bottega Veneta team, the remarkable journey initiated with Matthieu Blazy, to whom I extend my heartfelt gratitude for his visionary creativity.”
The prestigious designer comes fresh off the heels of a two year tenure at Carven, a house she has been lauded for resurrecting and reinventing as a minimalist’s favourite.
Before leading the rebirth of French fashion brand Carven, Trotter counted creative director titles at British labels Lacoste and Joseph.
Bottega Veneta is the most recent fashion house to announce a changing of the guards, with news of John Galliano’s departure from Maison Margiela, and Julian Klausner’s appointment at Dries Van Noten coming within weeks of each other.
While we’re still waiting on who will be tapped to take over Celine and Fendi, Trotter’s new role signals a refreshing shift in the luxury fashion landscape.
Louise Trotter will make her debut for Bottega Veneta in October 2025 during Milan Fashion Week.
More to come.
