While her peers showed their support for the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements by wearing a single white rose with their Grammys outfits, Lorde took a different tact, stitching an extract from Jenny Holzer’s Inflammatory Essays into the back of her dress with red thread.
“My version of a white rose — THE APOCALYPSE WILL BLOSSOM — an excerpt from the greatest of all time, jenny holzer” Lorde captioned her Instagram post. Here it is in full:
For anyone wondering whether such a move was really necessary, consider this: Lorde is the only woman nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys – and she’s the only nominee not asked to perform at the awards.
