Sister dressing, best friend outfits, twinning… call it what you will, but matching with another person is really, truly in fashion. Just ask Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, who took duo dressing to the red carpet this week.
Attending the amfAR Gala in New York City, the sisters opted for plunging black gowns, both with scalloped necklines and and ankle-grazing lengths. Both designed by Versace, the vintage shapes were cut from the same collection, handpicked by Donatella Versace for the Kardashians.
Kim’s look was completed with clear heels and a soft, undone beauty look. Kourtney’s dress had its own thigh-high split and was finished with a severe pulled back bun, piled high atop her head.
The sisters aren’t necessarily known for their twinning style, although are akin to trying the same trends — bike shorts and neon spring to mind.
Duo dressing isn’t anything new, but it is having a real comeback. Throughout Copenhagen fashion week, influencers and editors alike took it upon themselves to delve into matchy-matchy dressing, opting to wear the same colour scheme, pattern or designer piece as to coordinate with their best friend. Apart from being a great way to stand out from the crowd, twinning is one serious way to prove you’re part of the right team.
And while we can’t all be a part of the Kardashian clan, we can at least take Kim and Kourtney’s red carpet style to our next event.
