Keith Urban’s Style Evolution

The same year that Destiny’s Child won their first Grammy for Say My Name, Keith Urban had a mullet and wore this tiled jacket. What a year!

Keith Urban or Danny Zukko? Keith was pretty in pink at the 2001 CMA’s. 

Double denim not risky enough for you? Make like Keith at the 2002 CMA’s and add some gold embellishment, with a matching gold top of course.

Only Keith could pull of this green velvet suit, which the muso wore to the 2004 Grammys.

2004 was the year of suede, at least in Keith Urban’s opinion. He wore this brown suede suit to the 2004 Country Music Awards.

You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy. Keith donned ripped jeans and a black shirt to the CMA’s in 2005, making, doing up all of three buttons.

At the 2006 Grammy’s, Urban took it up a notch, adding a leather jacket to his black shirt, ripped jeans uniform.

Black on black on black: Keith wore a black suit with a black silk shirt to the 2006 CMA’s.

Keith put away his ripped jeans and pulled out a suit and tie for Nicole’s Golden Compass premiere.

Keith mixed up his colour palette a bit for the 2007 CMA’s, opting for a plaid grey suit.

And if the plaid suit wasn’t change enough, Keith went with a white shirt and lilac shirt for the 2008 CMA’

Urban brought back the plaid, wearing a plaid vest and matching pants to the CMT Music Awards.

The 2009 ARIA’s saw Keith in a checkered shirt and leather jacket.

Keith clearly replaced ripped jeans with plaid grey suits, wearing a darker shade of his new fave wardrobe essential to the 2010 People’s choice, and pairing it with a white striped shirt.

Couples who colour coordinate together, stay together: For the 2011 CMA’s, Nicole took a page out of Keith’s book and opted for a silver gown, complimenting Keith’s grey suit to a t.

At the 2013 Golden Globes, Keith shocked us all (in a beautiful way) when he wore this traditional black suit and bowtie.

Keith went back to his roots for the American Idol XIII Finalists Party, rocking a leather jacket, tee and yes, they’re back… ripped jeans!

And for the Grammy’s that year, Keith went for a low key look again, wearing a blazer over a button collared tee with jeans. 

Keith went all out at the 2016 Met Gala, wearing a black suit with a white vest and white bowtie.

But don’t worry, Keith’s still the Aussie country boy we all know and love, wearing a denim shirt, stained tee and ripped black jeans to the CMT Music Awards this year.
