Thinking of what to wear to your office Christmas party is hard enough, but just imagine having to decide on what to wear to Buckingham Palace to meet the royal family.
British actress Keira Knightley was given such a task yesterday when she was invited to the palace to receive an OBE award for her acting career and contributions to charity.
Instead of playing it safe, Knightley took style inspiration from one of the most controversial royals in recent years: Princess Diana.
The 33-year-old wore a yellow, pink and off-white tweed jacket and matching skirt by Chanel with a sleeveless white cotton shirt with a black bow and patent pink belt, also both by Chanel. Knightley finished the look with a custom-made Maison Michel hat and nude Chloe Gosselin heels.
While Diana avoided wearing Chanel specifically, due to the brand’s interlocking C logo reminding her of Charles and Camilla, the People’s Princess was regularly pictured sporting skirt suits to royal engagements.
