Arriving on the Met Gala’s red carpet in a custom Maison Margiela ensemble, it’s safe to say that Katy Perry certainly made an entrance.
But it’s not John Galliano’s avant-garde red tulle gown that has people talking.
Rather, Twitter exploded with fans speculating about the word ‘Witness,’ scrawled with black thread onto the singer’s sheer veil.
The majority assume ‘Witness’ might be the name of Katy’s upcoming fourth album, with the 32-year-old having performed her newest singles ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ and ‘Bon Appétit’ (featuring Migos) at the Gala.

While there are no confirmations from this year’s co-chair about the meaning behind ‘Witness’, on closer inspection, it appears that Katy wasn’t the only one dropping hints.
Lena Dunham used the high-profile event to discreetly support Planned Parenthood, with a ‘PP’ pin on the waist of her Elizabeth Kennedy dress and these other celebrities paid homage to Rei Kawakubo’s signature cropped bob.
