Princess Kate is hanging onto summer—in her wardrobe, at least. The royal stepped out on Wednesday, September 5 wearing a vibrant sunshine yellow dress by Karen Millen for an engagement at a maternity hospital unit in Surrey.
Wearing her hair in long loose waves and clutching a black bag paired with dark navy heels, the Princess of Wales’ $350 dress brought a bright pop of colour to the poignant engagement, her first official solo outing since she took on her new title.
Kate’s work within the royal family is strongly aligned with organisations that work with young children and babies, with her latest outing coinciding with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which the royal launched in 2021.
The visit included several meet and greets with new mothers and their children who have been supported by the Surrey maternity unit.
At one point, Kate cradled a premature baby (whilst wearing a mask) as she spoke to its mother.
“She’s very sweet,” Kate was heard saying as she gently held the newborn.
Kate and Prince William have alluded to having a fourth child after welcoming their three children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.
In a joint engagement with her husband earlier this year, William was heard telling well wishers to not give Kate “any ideas” when she spotted a baby in the crowd.
“You can’t take her with you,” he jokingly told Kate.
William has also said that Kate’s work with young children makes her want “another one”.
While a fourth Wales baby doesn’t seem super likely given William’s comments, you can never say never. As we’ve seen, Kate is a natural when it comes to kids.
