Highly regarded as the ultimate sartorial diplomat, Kate’s impeccable style choices over the years have always maintained a royal standard. From red carpet events to royal engagements, the duchess has certainly adopted a foolproof fashion formula, further cementing the undeniable power of the ‘Kate Middleton effect.’

While she’s openly worn a variety of brands during her almost 10-year tenure as part of the royal family, there’s no denying that Kate certainly has a few favourites. From her undying love affair with Alexander McQueen, to her most recent fling with cult-fashion brand The Vampire’s Wife, we’ve rounded up Kate Middleton’s favourite fashion designers of all time.

Alexander McQueen

Beginning with one of the duchess’s all-time favourite designers, Kate’s connection with Alexander McQueen has been ongoing since the inception of her stunning lace wedding dress by Sarah Burton. Since then, she’s developed an extensive collection of sophisticated silhouettes by the designer, worn at several milestone celebrations including Prince Louis’ christening and Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

The Vampire’s Wife

A more recent and growing favourite of Kate’s, The Vampire’s Wife had a major moment in the duchess’s wardrobe when she donned the brand’s emerald metallic silk Falconetti dress during a three-day tour in Ireland earlier this year. However, she isn’t the first royal to wear the coveted design. Princess Beatrice is also an avid fan of the niche brand, wearing the same emerald frock to Ellie Goulding’s wedding.

Emilia Wickstead

A regular in Kate’s maternity wardrobe, the first lady of British couture, Emilia Wickstead is a constant source of colour and vibrancy in the duchess’s closet. Most recently, she wore this elegant and floral ensemble by the designer while visiting the Back to Nature garden with Marry Berry in September 2019.

Reiss

One of her most important royal engagements, the duchess first wore British label Reiss to meet the Obama’s in 2011 – her look such a hit, it caused the brand’s website to crash. Now, Kate’s wardrobe is full of a selection of Reiss’s classic dresses, including the Nannette and the Trina.

Jenny Packham

A regular favourite for red carpet events, Kate is known to turn to designer Jenny Packham for her show-stopping gowns. A penchant for recycling her outfits, the duchess has repeatedly re-worn several of her ultra-glam Packham dresses throughout the years, including this dazzling champagne pink sequin gown.

Erdem

Kate Middleton debuted her first Erdem dress during her Canada tour in 2011, cleverly choosing the Canadian-born British designer for her first day in Ottawa. Since then, she’s worn several of the designer’s lacey and floral masterpieces.

Max Mara

There is nothing more timeless than a Max Mara coat and Kate sure knows it. The duchess has worn several variations over the years, but undoubtedly the forest green belted coat she wore during her first solo engagements in Scotland is the most memorable.
