In the lead up to King Charles III’s coronation, the world’s attention has turned to the royals—and Kate, The Princess of Wales seems to know it.
For her last three outfits, the royal has chosen to wear red, white and blue—a combination of colours that perfectly coordinate with England’s Union Jack’s flag.
Kate wore her first outfit, an Eponine London red coat with blue lining over a white dress, on a visit to Dog & Duck Pub in Soho, London with Prince William. The coat is the same one Kate during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee weekend in June 2022.
For her next outing, a formal lunch at Buckingham Palace, Kate again opted for a Union Jack colour—this time, wearing a white dress with a black belt and matching heels.
Kate continued the trend with her third and final pre-coronation outfit—a blue Self Portrait draped dress with a high neckline and long sleeves—for a reception at Buckingham Palace for overseas guests. Kate paired the dress with sapphire and diamond fringe earrings that once belonged to the Queen Mother.
While Kate’s Union Jack outfit colours might just be a coincidence, we have a feeling there’s something more to her choice. Having previously worn a nation’s flag colours on her visits abroad, it makes sense that Kate’s most recent outfits are a nod of support to her own country at this historic moment in time.
It also leads to questions about what the princess will wear to the upcoming coronation—but for that answer, we’ll just have to wait and see.
